The National Christian Foundation’s Ministry Expands Through Local Foundations: A significant part of National Christian Foundation’s ministry work involves the development and support of a network of Local Christian Foundations around the country. From Southern California to South Florida, these Local Christian Foundations are making tangible differences in their communities by:
• Developing and encouraging Christian giving (“donors”)
• Equipping local ministries and organizations immersed in the work of God's Kingdom (“doers”)
• Distributing resources donated by generous Christians to these ministries (“connecting together”)

The number and location of Christian Community Foundations are ALWAYS increasing and expanding. Check the website of The National Christian Foundation (www.nationalchristian.com) to keep up with the latest of information. Most of the foundations have mailing lists–so call and get on their mailing list AND ask if they have electronic lists, too! Remember, start with the closest one to you (your Jerusalem!) and develop/steward the relationship.
A Few Recommended Steps:
1. Learn about the one closest to you by visiting their website. Remember, they are NOT funders–rather, they are Christians taking a proactive role in bringing together “doers” and “donors.” Don’t go to them and ask for money. Rather, go to them with an open heart, share who you are, learn about them, and raise each others’ awareness of your important work and possible collaboration. Get on their mailing lists: Snail-mail and electronic if possible. Learn what they are doing in your community already! Learn who their Board Members are and what connections or relationships you might have with them through Board Members, donors, supporters, volunteers, etc. Don’t be abusive in developing a relationship–they get MANY calls interested in money. Show interest in their cause, too!
2. Get your written document prepared. Including the cover letter (1.5 pages), the summary page (1 page), and the proposal (3-4 pages MAX including a budget page--Follow the Template for proposals).
3. Call and ask them for a 15 minute appointment (if they ask you to stay longer–good. If not, stay to 15 minutes.) Tell them you are simply wanting to “raise their awareness of what you are doing” and learn more about them.
4. Attend their banquets, conferences, etc., as you develop a relationship with them. Stay connected and find ways you might become involved with their work (and invite them to be in yours!). Always be appreciative, grateful, gracious, etc., as you develop the relationship.
5. Buy a pair of kneepads for you and your Board and STAY ON YOUR KNEES asking God to bless your efforts–It is HE who provides!
